In 2018, I traveled to Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria for the first time since I was 4 years old. At the time, at 23 years old, my only goal was to capture as much as I could of my experience back home.

The photos in this collection include: An orphanage I visited, a birthday party for my Grandmothers, the people I met in my parents village, and other portraits I took throughout my time home.

I wanted to document Nigeria in a way that I didn't see growing up in America. Growing up, people had ignorant ideas of what it looked liked and meant to live in Nigeria. I wanted to capture my home in it's truest and most authentic form.

This is my homecoming.
